Iris Beta Participation Terms
These plain-language terms explain what Iris asks from beta testers and what testers can expect from Iris.
1. The testing period
Your beta period lasts 30 days and begins when you first activate Iris with your approved email and activation key. Access is personal, limited to the approved tester, and may be used on up to the number of computers shown in your approval email.
2. Tester commitments
Testers agree to use Iris on a real creative project, explore assigned features when requested, report meaningful bugs or confusing experiences, complete the 15-day check-in, and complete the 30-day closeout questionnaire. The 15-day check-in has a five-day grace period.
3. Access and removal
Iris may end beta access for sharing an activation key or unreleased installer, deliberately abusing the service, threatening other participants, or repeatedly missing required beta commitments. Ending beta access does not remove project files stored locally on your computer.
4. What makes a helpful Iris beta tester
Helpful testers do not need professional quality-assurance experience or a large audience. The most useful testers use Iris on a real project, explain what they were trying to do, describe what happened and what they expected, include their computer system and Iris version, attach a screenshot when it helps, and report confusing or frustrating moments honestly. Thoughtful specifics matter more than praise. Testers should also try requested workflows when possible and complete both required check-ins.
5. Your stories remain yours
You retain all ownership of your manuscripts, characters, worlds, images, notes, and other creative material. Participating in the beta does not transfer your intellectual property to Iris or New Dawn Literature.
6. Feedback and submitted evidence
You give Iris permission to use your bug reports, suggestions, survey answers, and general feedback to test and improve the app without additional payment. Private excerpts, screenshots, and recordings submitted to demonstrate a problem will not be published as promotional content without your separate permission. Remove personal or sensitive information before submitting evidence when possible.
7. Social posting is optional
You are never required to post publicly about Iris. Voluntary social posts are unpaid unless a separate written creator agreement says otherwise. Iris will follow the repost permission selected in your application and will provide credit when sharing an approved public post.
8. Confidentiality and beta risk
There is no general nondisclosure requirement unless you separately agree to one in writing. You may discuss your experience, but do not publish activation keys, private tester communications, unreleased installers, or another person’s private information. Beta software may contain bugs. Keep independent backups of important writing and do not use Iris as the only copy of a project.
9. End of beta
When beta access ends, Iris may stop opening licensed beta features until access is renewed or a public license is purchased. Your locally stored project files remain on your computer. Any future purchase will be offered separately and is not guaranteed by beta participation.
